Surgery takes a special place in dentistry, as an independent discipline, studying surgical diseases of teeth and oral cavity organs. The main method of treatment is surgical intervention (surgery). Surgical dentistry closely interacts with other dentistry disciplines: therapy, orthodontics, implantology, orthopedics and childhood dentistry.

Modern surgical stomatology implements comprehensive approach to dental treatment, which often consists of consistently conducted treatment with therapeutic and orthopedic methods. And after the whole complex of measures fails and does not bring the desired result, radical measures are applied, i.e.m surgery.

Dental extraction is the most common surgical operation in dentistry. It is used for pathological mobility of teeth, granuloma, complications of caries, pathologies of occlusion. This operation is not very complicated, but it requires a high doctor’s concentration and caution, especially when removing wisdom teeth.

Nowadays surgical dentistry faces many challenges: to conduct treatment, where special attention is paid to dental preserving operations (cystotomy, cystectomy, hemisection).

Before any surgery the patient shall undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to detect contraindications. examination detected unfavorable factors, the operation is postponed to a more appropriate time.
